Today is a day of preparation. I am amassing images of one of my favorite places on the planet and arranging them for posts I plan to make next week in order to raise $10,000 for Richmond Hill.
Once upon a time, I worked for the AIDSRides. I am constantly inspired by the people I met to this day. They each had a minimum fundraising goal of $2500. Many raised more than that. They would talk to their friends, family, coworkers, anyone they knew and share their passion for finding a cure for HIV-AIDS and providing services to those who live with the disease.
This is the kind of passion I am bringing to my fundraising goals at Richmond Hill.
Richmond Hill is needed now. Perhaps more than ever. As our country is being divided by our political leadership over issues of race and class, we need public spaces, brave spaces, safe spaces, to talk about privilege, class, and race in our country right now. Richmond Hill is such a place. It is a place made for such a time as this. The people of Richmond Hill are experienced, committed, and ready for this challenge.
Next Monday, I will share the link that will take you to the donation page that will track the donations that I bring in. As I said, I’m trying to raise $10,000. I have 5000 friends on Facebook alone. If each of you would give me a latte…Stir Crazy, my local cafe, charges $5 for their big latte (my usual order)…I would raise $25,000. That would be incredible to say the least.
If you can afford to give more, please do.
Think about it. Pray on it. I know that all of us are being asked to donate something somewhere right now, but it would mean a great deal to me if you would consider even a small donation.
$10,000. We begin in earnest on Monday.
Y’all be excellent to each other.
Beautiful!
Wonderful pictures. $5.00 will be on its way soon, at least once.
