Please follow this link to go to my personal fundraising page. This simply tracks who is giving to Richmond Hill. We’re having a wee competition, you see, between staff, volunteers, the Board, and residents over which group can raise the most money. The winner gets dessert. It’s good fun and will help a lot of us inspire others to give.
This week, I’m going to switch out my Franciscan Nugget for three Richmond Hill Nuggets. Beginning today through Thursday, I will share from the Community Rule and reflect upon it. I’ll then finish each post with the prayer for the day. I’m inviting you into the daily rhythm and the deep commitment to God and place that the community makes. Join us in our prayers, if you wish.
Then, give. Think of ways that you can contribute to the life of the place either financially, or some other way. Pray for Richmond Hill and it’s ministry. If you are local, pay them a visit. Join the community for lunch on Thursday.
Every donation makes a difference. Thank you for your generosity.
Today’s Richmond Hill Nuggets:
1. Conversion of Life (Conversatio): Living one’s life as if it were a conversation with God, in a commitment to personal spiritual disciplines.
2. Obedience: Living one’s life in response to God’s will, in a commitment to the mission of the community.
3. Community: Living one’s life as life together, in a commitment to shared mission and a common life.
This is how it began for me and this is how our rule begins. Life is a conversation with God. Spiritual disciplines are the language human beings use to communicate and commune with the divine. Prayer. Fasting. Service. These disciplines, for example, are conversations with God. In these conversations we learn to hear God’s voice and become obedient to what God is saying. Finally, we learn to trust other people and God in community with and for God.
Let us pray. “We pray today for our citizens who live in the City of Richmond, the Mayor, Manager, City Council, and School Board. Non-profit organizations and their ministries. All schools: students, teachers, and staff. Day care centers. All who suffer from addiction, dependency, and co-dependency. The Council, residents, and staff of Richmond Hill. Amen.”
Thanks again for all you are doing for Richmond Hill.
I’m available should you need me.
Y’all be excellent to each other.
The links aren't working. Just a heads up.
